Naija Tennis Special can authoritatively report that Nigerian youngster,  Serena Teluwo has landed in California, USA for a junior invitational tournament.
According to Paul Moses who went with nine-year old Serena to the American state, the tournament will hold over two legs in two different centres in California.
“The first one is the Temecula Valley Junior Tournament (Level 5) and the Manhattan Beach Classic Junior Open (Level 5) and Satellite (Level 6), both in LA, California.
“It is part of her developmental programme as we are looking to add to her laurels as well. She won the girls U-10 at the MP Tiger event in Lagos and we want to build on that momentum with this event,” Moses, a tennis coach said. On whether he believes young Serena can come out tops in the Championships, the coach noted that the most important thing is for her to play well.
He said: “it is not always advisable to put pressure on players to win. The most important thing is the performance. Is she plays really well and still loses, I will accept the defeat. But if she wins ugly, it may not be acceptable because the aim is to see her perform well, week-in, week-out.
“She is not new to such tournaments so I believe that her experience in previous competitions will help her survive any scare or threat the championships may want to pose.”
