Nigeria’s young tennis prodigy, Joseph Imeh, has moved up the cadre in African tennis as the youngster is now rated 18 on the log of Africa’s best junior tennis players.
The 18-year old player, who idolizes Novak Djokovic, noted that his rating was enhanced by his continuous display and his attendance of major African Junior Tennis Circuits.

Imeh was ranked about 1500 in the world before the ITF Circuits which he won over the first two legs in Togo before relinquishing power in the third leg which took place in Benin Republic.
The South-Africa trained tennis player is now ranked 383 in the world, a feat which according to him, “was unprecedented because I only attended the tournament based on my level of training and a higher level of expectation that I would do well.
“I was sure that I would perform excellently if I trained really hard, that was why I was not totally surprised when I won. The calibre of players that I defeated during the event also showed my preparation and readiness for the tournament”.
Coached by Mr. Abel, whom he often speaks highly of, Imeh believes that the sky is his limit as he works harder to attain the status of Africa’s best in his category.
“I believe a lot in discipline and hard work, which I have been adhering to for a very long time now. If I can keep up with this momentum, I am sure that there is nothing I will not be able to achieve in this game of tennis,” he stated.
