Uzbekistan has named a former Australian Open player, Khumoyun Sultanov, on their list of players for the Davis Cup World Group II tie against Nigeria.

Sultanov, ranked ATP 581 (as at Thursday 29 January, 2026), is one of the four players who will be representing Uzbekistan when they come up against Nigeria for the World Group II Playoffs inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos.

The 27-year-old reached the second round of the Australian Open qualifiers in 2025, and has a career-high ranking of 216 which he attained also in January, 2025.

He was also in contention when Uzbekistan lost to Hong Kong China, in the World Group II, winning his country’s only match en route to their 1-3 loss to the hosts. His 13.36 UTR is the highest of all the players expected in Nigeria for the World Group II Playoffs.

Other payers listed for the tie against Nigeria include Ilya Ignatov (ATP 1945) UTR 11.70, Abdulaziz Usmojonov (1945) UTR 11.52 and 17-year-old Sukrob Saidov (Junior ITF 809) UTR 10.

Daniel Adeleye, Nigeria’s number one male tennis player, leads the pack against the Uzbekistans, alongside Canice Abua and Michael Emmanuel who are Nigeria’s number two and three players consecutively.
