The Nigerian trio of Chukwudubem Amasiani, Goodnews Aina and Mofifunoluwa Atilola are through to the finals of the ITF/CAT West & Central Africa Junior Tennis Championship in Togo, Nigeria Tennis Live has gathered.
Amasiani, one of Nigeria’s top junior tennis players who recently returned from a training tour of the United States, defeated Nigerian compatriot, Nathaniel Aluko, 4-6, 6-0, 10-5 to advance in the Boys’ U-16 event in Lome, the Federal Capital of Togo.

The former African U-14 number two player is one of Nigeria’s hopefuls at the event and will be targeting a maiden U-16 title when he takes on his opponent from Mali in the final on Sunday, 18 January, 2026.
In the Girls’ U-16, Goodnews Aina, proved her number one seeding beyond reasonable doubt, by also powering into the finals of the Girls’ U-16 event, giving Nigeria her second finals berth at the tournament.

Not only the Ekiti-born tennis teenage player was on top of her game, Lagos-based Atilola also stepped up during her semifinal match as she came from behind to hand her opponent a resounding defeat in Togo.

The Nigerian number one U-14 in Africa defeated Beninoise opponent Honfoga, seeded three for the tournament, in a final set thriller which ended 0-4, 4-2, 10-1 in favour of the Nigerian.
Atiilola will now take on Cameroon’s Olive Ewala, in a battle of the number one and two seeds, to determine who takes the West African crown.
