Nigeria’s Billie Jean King Cup team in Namibia will be hoping for a clean slate in the round robin stage of the ongoing tournament when they take on Botswana.

The Nigerian ladies are chasing a qualification from the Africa Group III event after narrowly missing out on the ticket during the 20224 qualifying rounds in Kenya.

The duo of Oyinlomo Quadre and Adesuwa Osabuohien were ruthless in the second tie against Ghana, recording straight sets win over Sisu-Makena Tomegah and Precious Nunanah Okoh that ended 6-4, 6-2; 6-3, 6-1 respectively.

Both ladies would later team up to win the Doubles 6-1, 6-0 against the duo of Tracy Ampah and Tomegah to set the tone for an interesting third tie against another rampaging Botswana side.

Botswana, like Nigeria, are yet to lose any of their ties in the competition, as they recorded 3-0 wins over Ghana and Uganda, and will be faced with their biggest test yet, when they meet the Nigerian ladies in the final tie in the round robin stage.

A win of any form for the Nigerian ladies will see them progress to the knockout phase of the competition, where they will be hoping to put themselves in a place to reach the World Group II, where the heat gets hotter.
