The organizers of the Lagos Tennis Cup have announced a postponement of the event, Nigeria Tennis Live can report.

The much-anticipated event, scheduled to hold from Monday, 21 April to Saturday 27 April, 2025 inside the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, has now been moved further by a minimum of two weeks.

Orufuo Ezaga, CEO of the Tennis Management Company Limited who are organizers of the event, told Nigeria Tennis Live on Friday evening, that the postponement became necessary due to factors beyond their control.

“We have to postpone the tournament by a minimum of two weeks, sadly,” the tennis enthusiast and host of popular tv show, Sports Business Talk with Orufuo Ezaga on Plus TV, told our correspondent.

“We are aware of the inconveniences this will cause some of the players and others involved in the planning for this event and we are deeply sorry about this.

“The players can rest assured, however, that the event will still hold soon, and a new date will be communicated as soon as the headwinds are clear,” he added.

The Secretary of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Makpa Shammah, who confirmed the situation, also noted his regret at the new development.

“Kindly help pass the message around so that everyone who may have been planning to attend can reschedule their plans,” the NTF Secretary General noted.
