Dala Hard Court Championship To Serve Off In Kano

Dala Hard Court Tennis Championship, Nigeria’s oldest national tennis tournament, is set to kick off at the ancient city of Kano, Naija Tennis Special has reliably gathered.

Engr Sani Ndanusa, the president of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) during a chat with our correspondent on Wednesday morning, disclosed that plans were already in top gear for the tournament to be hosted in the northern state starting from Friday, 18 November.

Sylvester Emmanuel will be hoping to retain the title he won in 2015.

He said: “There are top plans for the commencement of the tournament in Kano and starting from this weekend, the players are expected to have started thronging the city of Kano ahead of the tournament.

“The tournament will start this Friday and end on the 26th of November in Kano and I can assure you that players have already started booking their places in Kano ahead of the championship.”

This year’s championship will be a keenly contested one as the Nigerian national stars will seek to consolidate on their much-improved performance at the 2016 Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, where Nigerian players made it to the quarter-final stage.

Emmanuel Sylvester and Christie Agugbom are the defending champions in the male and female categories and will be looking forward to retaining their titles in Kano in the course of the tournament.

You can count on Naija Tennis Special for updates from the tournament.
