The organizers of the forthcoming Adewale Isa Foundation National Junior Tennis Tournament is set to honour the memory of one of its directors, Mrs. Arinola Isa.

Mrs. Isa, one of Africa’s most prominent ITF-certified referees, passed on a few years ago after a battle with illness but her impact has remained indelible in the hearts of her family and loved ones.

And in a bid to immortalize her, the Adewale Isa Foundation will be renaming one of their prizes for youngsters in her name.

Alhaji Nurudeen Isa, the Foundation’s Director, informed Nigeria Tennis Live that the consolation prizes awarded to players who come third in their age categories will now be renamed after the late tennis umpire.

He noted that: “in a bid to immortalize and honor the memory of our sister, we came up with renaming the consolation prizes that are won by the third-placed athletes after her.

“She is one of the people Nigerians cannot forget in a haste because of her impact in Nigerian tennis and even across the globe, and as a family, we just thought it wise to honour her memory in this manner, among other ways.

“The award will now be called ‘The Arinola Isa Consolation Prize’ and it will be given to players who come third in each of the categories”.

The sixth edition of the annual AIF National Junior Tennis Championship is scheduled to serve off on Monday, 25 August and will climax on Saturday, 30 August, with kids expected to attend from every part of the country.
